Ramapo Police Charge Motorist With DWI After Crash In Wesley Hills

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police arrested a motorist who was allegedly impaired following an accident in Wesley Hills, police said.

The arrest came about when an officer was dispatched to Wilder Road in the village to investigate the crash Friday afternoon, according to police.

While on the scene, the officer observed that the driver appeared to be impaired, police said.

The driver was arrested, and further investigation was conducted by the Ramapo Police Department's drug recognition expert, according to police.

The driver was processed and released after posting bail; he is due to return to Wesley Hills Village Court next month, police said.

Ramapo police officers investigated five car accidents on Friday, including two in Pomona and one each in Hillcrest, Wesley Hills and Monsey.

Ramapo police responded to 125 calls for service Friday, including 12 medical emergencies, 12 alarm activations and nine fire calls.

Four arrests were made. Charges included criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, DWI and driving while ability impaired by drugs, police said.
